The Deep Work Retreat
Focused work directed by your own rhythms and space.
It’s hard to focus these days. Most of the time we feel terribly busy but don’t feel like we have much to show at the end of the day. With pings, and notifications, work-from-home interruptions, and a never ending stream of things that demand our attention (hello gritty dirty floor, laundry, dishes…) it can feel impossible to do the work you set out to do. You know that work that would move your life and business forward. Sometimes that work is the sitting down and doing of the thing, other times what’s required is a being, a time of stillness to assess, to lift our heads from the grindstone to look around at the world we have created for ourselves and determine if we like what we see or if we are craving something different.
The Deep Work Retreat is held in a different location each year (last year we were in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico and I have to say I reaaaaaally want to go back). It is a 7 day experience where you are surrounded by a small group of other people who are also intending to go deep. Deep into their work, deep into themselves, deep into a place of spaciousness, being-ness, and replenishment so that the creative flow can be unhindered. This is NOT your typical vacation.
———- say more….
Thoughts:
bridging vacation and work
a collaborative workspace
redefining what “home office” looks and feels like for a period of time - recreating the comforts of home, eliminating much of the daily responsibilites we hold so that we can focus on the work that wants to emerge
private or removed spaces for people to peel off and do independent work along with shared areas for conversation, sounding board activities or talking through stuckpoints in our perspectives or progress
no having to go it alone. When you are surrounded in a group environment where others are in the “head-down” mode, it encourages you to not only do the same, but stay in the deep work zone longer. Cancel the noise around you to allow yourself auditory, kinestethic and visual space to focus.
A rejuvenating way to work. Feel replenished, rested, and re-centered upon your return home, along with having a fat stack of good work in your hand.
Investment: Pricing Varies based on retreat location (think Sedona vs Greece) More details will be posed when this years location is set.
What’s included:
transportation to and from the nearest airport
all food and a modest amount of adult beverages (like, an afternoon cocktail, or a glass of wine with dinner)
A private room with dedicated bathroom (unless you choose to share with a friend or other attendee)
One unique excursion based on the retreat location. For example, in Puerto Rico we did a Bioluminescent Kayak Tour
One unique in-house experience, usually related to the local food culture (like a homemade pasta making class in Tuscany)
Curated time and space to fall into your own rhythms of sleeping, reading, deep work, sounding board conversations with other participants, relaxing and eating.
During this time, there is a lack of demand on time, schedules, obligations (or even the shadow of obligations - you know, that feeling of being “on-call” for whatever may ping at you). There is no expectation of forced connection, group circles, debriefs, or group processing. Connections happen organically.
If you haven’t figured this out about me yet, food is the 1st love of my life. I cherish it, appreciate it, savor it, plan my day around it. And as a result, the dinner meal has become my favorite time of day. At the Deep Work Retreat, a lot of attention is placed on the quality of dinner and the natural sharing that comes as a result. I encourage participants to join us for this daily ritual, but it’s not a requirement (nor are seating assignments, yuck), so if you find that time of day is your most productive or introspective, you are invited to notice that and skip it.
The Moab immersion
4 days & a shitload of progress
So maybe you have a negative amount of “free” time in your world. There is hardly any moment to pee let along dream and do. I know it may be asking a lot, but what lives inside you is demanding your focused attention. This is a 4 day immersion, held on my property at the base of the mountains in Moab, Utah. You will eat gourmet-style healthful meals, be taken to off-the-beaten-path places to inspire you with expansion, have cultivated space to sink into your inner longings and wisdom and 4 days of my coaching + health +business strategy so when you leave you have exactly what you need to move your thing to the next level.
In 4 days I have helped someone who never even considered opening a business create a full Personal Stylist business plan with offerings, pricing, branding and a to-do list to get it all actually started and not just live on paper. Now their work appears on prestigious runways and stages in NYC, Milan, and more.
In 4 days I have helped someone mired in fear and lack, wiggle out of the limitations of their current business structure (which was majorly brining home the bacon). At the end of our time, they had an evolution with their business branding and personality, an action and communication plan for shifting their business and a much greater sense of permission to “do the work they were meant to be doing in the world.” An undeniable right-ness anchored their thinking, actions and way of moving through life and interacting with clients, so there was no more second guessing or doubt.
I have limited space to offer this kind of dedicated work. Please book a 45 minute Connection Call with me to start some dialogue about your needs and how this approach may (or may not) be the best approach.
Investment: $5,000
Get yourself to the Grand Junction, Colorado Airport (GJT) and from there everything is paid for until you are are delivered back at the airport on your departure day. We will talk more about timing of flights/days/etc, have no fear. This is a very customized and co-created experience.
The Desire Map
How do you want to FEEL?
In your heart, your body, your career?
When you wake up in the morning,
when you speak your peace,
when you look in the mirror,
when you go for what you want?
Knowing how you want to feel is the most potent form of clarity you can have, and that clarity has the power to change, well, everything.
The Desire Map is like GPS for your soul, a program for clarifying what you truly want in every area of your life, and using that powerful awareness to guide your choices from now on.
